Complexity of estimating multi-way join result sizes for area skewed spatial data

چکیده
In a real life environment, spatial data is highly skewed. In general, there are two kinds of skews in spatial data. One is the placement skew and the other is the area skew. This paper introduces methods and the complexity of estimating the result sizes of the multi-way join for the area skewed spatial data. Especially, this paper describes the number and sort of the statistics which the optimizer should keep in order to calculate the multi-way join result size. 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. متن کاملMulti-way spatial join selectivity for the ring join graph
Efficient spatial query processing is very important since the applications of the spatial DBMS (e.g. GIS, CAD/CAM, LBS) handle massive amount of data and consume much time. Many spatial queries contain the multi-way spatial join due to the fact that they compute the relationships (e.g. intersect) among the spatial data. Thus, accurate estimation of the spatial join selectivity is essential to ...
متن کاملOn Multi-way Spatial Joins with Direction Predicates
Spatial joins are fundamental in spatial databases. Over the last decade, the primary focus of research has been on joins with the predicate “region intersection.” In modern database applications involving geospatial data such as GIS, efficient evaluation of joins with other spatial predicates is yet to be fully explored. In addition, most existing join algorithms were developed for two-way joi...
متن کاملBayesian Inference for Spatial Beta Generalized Linear Mixed Models
In some applications, the response variable assumes values in the unit interval. The standard linear regression model is not appropriate for modelling this type of data because the normality assumption is not met. Alternatively, the beta regression model has been introduced to analyze such observations. A beta distribution represents a flexible density family on (0, 1) interval that covers symm...
متن کاملOn the Estimation of Join Result Sizes
Good estimates of join result sizes are critical for query optimization in relational database management systems. We address the problem of incrementally obtaining accurate and consistent estimates of join result sizes. We have invented a new rule for choosing join selectivities for estimating join result sizes. The rule is part of a new unified algorithm called Algorithm ELS (Equivalence and ...
